McDonald Hall

A fun milestone for our Durham campus!

On June 6, 2024, TROSA Founder Kevin McDonald, TROSA President and CEO Keith Artin, and a handful of TROSA staff members who have helped plan our new McDonald Hall residential dorm joined building partners CT Wilson and MHAworks in a topping out ceremony.

A topping out (sometimes called topping off) ceremony is a builders’ tradition when the last or tallest beam is raised into place during construction.

To commemorate this building milestone, Kevin, Keith, and those present signed a steel beam, which will forever sit atop McDonald Hall!

McDonald Hall will bring modern residential spaces and much-needed expansion of our classrooms, meeting rooms, and offices to our campus.

Design work for this project began in 2022 and construction began in 2023.

Celebrating 30 Years

TROSA was founded in 1994 and we have seen many changes over the past decades.

It is fitting that we were able to commemorate this moment during TROSA’s 30th anniversary year. During these past 30 years, we have grown in every way—in programming, services, staff, and amenities for our residents.

TROSA senior resident Gary reflected on these changes and how far we’ve come since 1994. “If you want to move a mountain, it takes one shovel at a time,” shared Gary. “A little hope goes a long way.”

It is especially meaningful to have Kevin McDonald’s signature on the new building that bears his name. Thanks to Kevin’s hard work, leadership, and mentorship, TROSA has grown to be an award-winning, evidence-based treatment program.

Building Partners

We are so thankful for the expertise of partners like CT Wilson Construction and MHAworks Architecture who have guided TROSA through several expansion projects, including our new Women’s Program T-East campus, our TROSA Triad campus in Winston-Salem, and our Comprehensive Care Center, which houses TROSA’s medical, counseling, and admissions departments.

We look forward to sharing and celebrating McDonald Hall’s completion!
