TROSA Family Days
This October, TROSA staff and residents were on hand to help welcome families visiting Durham and Winston-Salem campuses for our annual TROSA Family Days.
Residents were given the opportunity to invite family members to see our campuses and meet TROSA staff and peers. We had activities, meals, and the chance to spend time with loved ones in recovery. Our Durham campus staff and residents joined family members in showing off their dance skills (see photo below)!
Community Events
Helping others is a key part of our treatment program. Our TROSA campus participated in many community events this year. Some highlights from the fall season have included:
- The 24th Annual Rainbow of Heroes Walk, which is a fundraiser and reunion for children and their families participating in the Duke PTCT Family Support Program as part of Duke’s Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (PTCT) department. Duke’s PTCT is an internationally-renowned transplant program that offers treatment for a variety of severe and life-threatening illnesses. TROSA helped the Duke PTCT community enjoy a day of remembrance, hope, and gratitude. The Walk is the main fundraiser for the Duke PTCT Family Support Program and serves as a reunion for patients, families, nurses, therapists, doctors, volunteers, and supporters who have come to know each other through the long treatment process. It was a great day in support of children, families, and providers!
- Durham Pride, which celebrates Durham’s LGBTQ+ community. TROSA was proud to sponsor an informational table about our program and residents and staff marched in support at the annual parade.
- The Tuscaloosa-Lakewood Neighborhood National Out, which was held at neighbor organization El Futuro. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. TROSA staffed an informational table, spent time with our neighbors, and our TROSA Food Services team provided dinner.
